Our Story

In 2018, a team of archeologists in Jordan found tiny black specks around an ancient fireplace.

When they were tested at University College London, they turned out to be 14,000 year-old breadcrumbs. Our Studio

Our studio is based in Sheffield, a city shaped by industry and craft. You’ll find us in an art deco building on the banks of the River Don.

Inside, the space is designed to solve problems. There’s a dedicated room for events, off-sites and workshops. We have a mess room for testing ideas, building prototypes and working through ideas together. It’s a creative, hands-on environment where clients from across the UK and beyond come to wrestle with complex challenges, make decisions and move their organisations forward.

Our Team

Our team brings together specialists across strategy, design, storytelling and production. Between us we’ve worked with start-ups, scale-ups and complex global organisations, giving us a grounded understanding of how businesses really function.

That mix creates a healthy collision of disciplines and perspectives. Different ways of thinking, questioning and making come together to challenge assumptions, explore problems properly and shape better solutions.

We’re ambitious about the work we do, but deliberate about how we grow. We choose projects carefully and focus on work where we can make a genuine difference, both for our clients and the people we work alongside.

As a team, we invest heavily in each other’s development. Everyone receives a £1,000 annual personal development budget and 12 days per year dedicated to CPD, giving people the space and support to keep learning and progressing in their careers.

We also believe that good work comes from people who feel supported and connected. Alongside 28 days’ off (including a Christmas break and your birthday) plus bank holidays, we make time to get together outside the studio — building the kind of team that genuinely enjoys working with each other.

All of our roles are based in our Sheffield studio. We know that won’t suit everyone, but we believe the best ideas and the strongest work happen when people are in the same place.

Student Workshops

Twice a year we run a free three-day workshop for groups of six students and early-career creatives. These sessions offer a chance to experience how we approach problems — working collaboratively, exploring ideas, and presenting solutions. We encourage creatives from all fields (copy, design, film, motion, illustration) to apply. If you’d like to be part of the next workshop, email your portfolio to team@3800.co.uk.

Paid Internships

Each year we offer a small number of paid internships lasting one to two months. Interns work alongside the team in the studio, contributing to live projects and learning how strategy, design and behaviour change come together in practice. To register your interest, contact team@3800.co.uk.
